Senior AI/ML Engineer focused on designing and deploying production AI systems, with a focus on NLP, LLMs, agentic AI, and MLOps. I work on AI/ML platforms and cloud infrastructure across AWS, GCP, and Azure, combining hands-on engineering with the leadership side of getting things into production.

Independer is a Dutch scale-up that helps consumers make decisions about financial and utility services.
For Independer, I work mainly on the Azure machine learning platform and the direction of the data science team, building recommendation and targeting models and working closely with product, engineering, and compliance.

Senior AI / Machine Learning Engineer

DPG Media (De Persgroep), Online Services Data Platform Team

DPG Media's Online Services runs a family of well-known Dutch consumer brands.
I was the main engineer behind the ML platform used across those brands, built on AWS SageMaker, Airflow, dbt, MLflow, and Terraform so teams could deploy models without needing dedicated ML expertise.
Along the way I built language and recommendation models, an AI job-enrichment service using NLP and LLM agents, and some early agentic AI experiments, as well as learning-to-rank improvements for search.
I also mentored engineers and interns and started an internal machine learning guild for knowledge sharing.

Worked as an ML consultant for clients across Europe and beyond, as part of Atos's Expert Community on Artificial Intelligence, and co-authored two patent applications.
Projects ranged from an AI chatbot for customer service in the aerospace industry, to cloud strategy for a central bank, to entity extraction over historical national archives and fraud-detection models for customs.
